Ramsey Fitness knows that exercising the same routine can become boring and make working out a chore. 20 minutes on treadmill, 20 minutes on the elliptical trainer, 20 minutes of circuit training. And you have to be a choreographer to participate in some of the classes offered by the gyms. You’re tired of spinning, kicking, piates. Blah, blah, boring. Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone plan your workouts for you so you’re never stuck doing the same old, same old whether it’s three-times-a-week or every day? Wouldn’t it be great to have someone develop a program that made working out fun and effective? A program that kept you engaged and on your toes?
Ramsey Fitness offers Bootcamps specifically designed for small groups because we know that motivation is best when you’re part of a group. And the workouts are never the same, so you don’t have to worry about getting bored and playing hookey from exercising.
Fitness Bingo is just one in a series of interesting workout that all the campers look forward to. Bingo? Yes, Bingo. Here’s how it works. Each camper gets a “bingo” card and chips. Each letter of the word “Bingo” represents a different exercise–sprints, squat thrusts, push-ups, mountain climbers, crunches, etc. If the trainer calls “B 10,” anyone with “B 10” puts a chip on that number and then everyone does 10, let’s say, sprints. Once the sprints are completely, another number is immediately called and the campers go right into the next exercise with no break. The first person to get “Bingo” is allowed to sit out a round and calls a number.
Fitness Bingo is not only a great way to burn some serious energy, but makes for a really fun workout. So what are you waiting for? Are you ready to have some fun? Then, check out Ramsey Fitness and shake up your old routine.
The holidays are right around the corner—time for family get-togethers, holiday parties and lots of time spent with people. You know what that means, don’t you? Cold and flu season is upon us. All that kissing; all that hugging; all that handshaking; all those people sharing the same space can make us sick. Ramsey Fitness wants to give you some helpful suggestions on how to stay healthy and keep your body fit during the season of sneezing.
1) Wash your hands often. The essential rule of Kindergarten never gets old. Antibacterial hand sanitizer gel is fine, but nothing beats good old soap and water to rid your hands of germs. It’s the most effective way to clean your hands. But you have to wash for at least 20 seconds for it to be effective. Here’s a trick they teach kids in school: sing the happy birthday song to yourself while you rub your hands with soap; when the song is finished you can rinse your hands with water.
2) Rubbing Alcohol as a sanitizer. Why spend all that money on expensive household cleaners that promise to kill germs when all you need is a dollar store spray bottle filled with an 88 cent bottle of rubbing alcohol? That’s how the hospitals used to sanitize everything. Nothing can kill germs better than rubbing alcohol. Spray it to sanitize your toilet, bathroom sink, kitchen sink, kitchen table, countertop, phone. Keep a bottle at work and clean your phone, computer keyboard, desktop…everything. You can even use it on your hands since the effective ingredient in a hand sanitizer is alcohol—it’s what makes it antibacterial.
3) No Buffet Dining. Stay away from the salad bars and any other restaurant buffets. Keep in mind that every person in that restaurant or store has touched those thongs and imprinted them with their own bacteria or viral germs, not to mention that the tongs go back into the food tray infecting the food with the bacteria and viruses. (And we’ve all seen those customers who just plunge right into the food tray with their hands!)
4) Cough or sneeze into your elbow. Coughing and sneezing into your hands just serves to spread bacteria and viruses whenever you touch something. Germs die on your fabric whereas the warmth and oils on your hand keeps the bacteria alive.
5) If you feel sick stay home. You serve no one when you bring your germs to work; most especially, yourself.
6) Exercise. Even though it can be tempting to skip exercising, every Ramsey Bootcamper knows that a fit body is the best way to stay healthy.
Given the state of the economy, fewer people are going out and more people are entertaining at home. That means spending more casual time with your friends and family, but it also means more homemade tasty treats. So, just how are you going to satisfy your hunger for holiday food and drinks and stay fit? Ramsey Boot Campers know the secret: moderation–along with a few helpful hints.
Most holiday parties are casual buffet parties that include an eclectic spread of food. Buffets are great because they give you many choices. My advice is to stand near the vegetable platters. Avoid the creamy, caloric dips and chips and dine on carrots, peppers, tomatoes and other staples of the vegetable platter. Raw vegetables will not only fill you up, but by staying away from the heavier, more caloric foods will allow you to indulge in one or two holiday drinks.
Another trick is to continually hold a drink in the hand that you normally use to eat with. This will keep your hand busy and keep it out of the chip bowl. Also, if you really don’t crave what’s on the table then don’t eat it. Eat only what you desire and don’t waste your time on “fillers.”
Some people I know chew gum at cocktail parties to keep them from eating. This will keep your mouth busy and the taste of the gum will provide your taste buds with the sense that they are getting nourished.
Another trick is to eat a light meal before going to a cocktail party. This will keep your appetite in check and keep you from over-eating while at the party. Also, add seltzer or club soda to your drink to cut back on the calorie content. Or, if you need to drink, follow each alcoholic drink with a seltzer or club soda.

So, you’ve survived Halloween and all its salty tricks and sugared treats, but Thanksgiving, Hanukah, Christmas and New Years’ Eve lurk right around the corner ready to tempt you with sugary and savory delights. And we all know that the colder it gets, the more our bodies go into “bulk up for the winter” mode. So just how are you going to avoid temptation and stay fit over the next eight weeks? Stay focused. Stay Determined. And think about joining us at Ramsey Get Fit Boot Camps.
Just because visions of sugarplums dance in your head doesn’t mean that you have to eat a whole bowl of sugarplums. Look for ways to cut calories while still enjoying the holidays. Tis the season of turkey! And while turkey is one of the leanest of all the proteins, it is also very filling. What makes turkey deadly is the skin—all the calories are contained in the skin of the bird. Avoid eating the skin and you can have almost all the turkey you want without feeling guilty.
Don’t ride the holiday gravy train! Gravy is filled with fat and calories. If you must indulge your craving for turkey and all the dressings, use a small spoon to ladle gravy onto your turkey. A small spoon is also helpful to control the portions you serve yourself of potatoes and stuffing. Using a smaller plate also makes you feel like you are eating more than you really are.
Holiday desserts are the biggest temptation for most people. How can you say “no” to pecan pie? Blueberry pie? Apple pie? Pumpkin Pie? You don’t have to have a huge sliver of each pie on the table. In fact, by not eating the crusts you can shave about 100 calories off the slice of pie. You can do the same with cakes; just eating the bottom or top layer of a cake will save you about 100 calories.
Join us at Ramsey Get Fit Boot Camps and we’ll keep you motivated, inspired and fit. So remember: stay focused; stay determined; and stay tuned for more articles on staying fit and looking great for the holidays.
Is fear keeping you from working out? Are you afraid of walking into a gym alone? Are you afraid of committing to a gym membership? Are you afraid of taking that first step because every exercise and diet program you’ve tried in the past has not worked?

It’s no secret that the fastest, most effective way to lose weight and obtain a fit body is to train with a personal trainer. A personal trainer will target specific parts of your body giving you an overall body workout as opposed to only running, or jogging, that increases your stamina, and strengthens your legs, but doesn’t work every muscle.
Try Get Fit Boot Camps FREE for two weeks. We’ll give you all the benefits of a one-to-one personal trainer, but at a fraction of the cost.
