Frequently Asked questions

What is bootcamp?

Bootcamp is the hottest term out now to describe group workouts. Boot camp does not mean Army or Marine style yelling and in your face attitude.

How long do the workouts last?

A typical boot camp workout lasts up to 45 minutes.

What does a typical workout consist of?

Boot camp workouts are comprised of a few elements, the first being timed sets. Timed sets means that you do a certain exercise, or group of exercises, as many times as you can, within the set time. An example would be 20 seconds of lunges you can complete 10.

The second element is combo moves, or moves that use the most amount of energy to perform. Have you ever wondered why guys in the gym who are doing endless arm exercises never seem to lose fat? Because they are working those tiny little arm muscles to death. Yet there are many larger muscles in the body. These larger muslces need more energy to do work, so they need more calories.

What makes a boot camp program worth trying?

The feeling of community is what keeps members coming back. Many times people like to find a partner to workout or exercise with, too keep themselves motivated. With a boot camp you are exercising each meeting with a group of individuals who want to get the same results as you.

No more finding a friend who might quit in two weeks, leaving you on your own. You may not know anyone when you join GET FIT Boot Camps, but you'll quickly become part of the family. You'll have new friends to lean on and share your progress with.

I haven't worked out in a long time, won't I fall behind the other members?

Too often people never join a class or exercise program because they feel everyone else is in great shape, and they will not be able to keep up. With my boot camp program, this is not the case at all. My workouts are based around timed exercise chunks. What this does is allow everyone to do an exercise at their own maximum effort for the same amount of time.

This means Jane who has been coming to class for 6 months can do 38 repetitions of that movement, but Rachel who just started this week can only do 9. Yet in an example set of 30 seconds, they both did the most they could do. So they've both gotten the maximum benefit for themselves, while still in the same class.
